July 17 – 21 marked one of the busiest weekends in South Florida — Swim Week (Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim if you’re fancy). Every year around this time, visitors come from all over to view the latest in swim and resort wear. Last year, I attended a ton of fashion shows, but this time around, I decided to take it easy.
There were definitely a few presentations that I was looking forward to attending — Mara Hoffman, SUBOO, and Minimale Animale — but I didn’t go to any of them. At first I was really excited to go, but then as each event drew closer and the rain started pouring down, it wasn’t as enticing.
I decided to spend the time with my family instead. That weekend we went out to eat, hung out at the beach, and just enjoyed each other’s company. And if I really wanted to take a look at what I was missing, I went on Instagram and snuck a few peeks at all the #swimweek pictures.
In the past, I would’ve been dying to attend every and any show, but not anymore. There’s just something about being away that makes you appreciate the things that really matter that much more. That’s not to say that I didn’t have any Swim Week fun, I did, but I only attended what I had time to attend and I didn’t feel guilty for not participating in what I couldn’t/just didn’t want to. And trust me, it felt great!
